Welcome to Yorkshire Vets! As one of the leading vets in Leeds and Bradford, we take pride in the exceptional level of care, compassion and service provided for you and your pets.

Yorkshire Vets is an independent veterinary group, owned and run by practising local veterinary surgeons. We offer a number of local first opinion surgeries which work hard to serve their local communities. These surgeries offer all of the day-to-day facilities and services that you would expect from a local veterinarian. They are also staffed by some of the best surgeons, nurses and support staff in the region. Services and facilities at these first opinion surgeries include; health examinations, vaccinations, neutering, routine surgery, dental surgery and more. For a more comprehensive guide on what each surgery can offer, please see our services page. We also offer a Pet Health Club for dogs, cats and rabbits. This service provides all of the preventative care your pet needs throughout the year for a simple monthly payment.

Hospital Treatment and 24 Hour Care

Sometimes your pet may require more specialist treatment and facilities that are available within a smaller practice. Because of this, we operate a centralised RCVS accredited Veterinary Hospital facility. Our Thornbury Hospital provides the cutting edge facilities and services you would expect from a modern veterinary hospital while maintaining the friendly and approachable level of service that you have come to expect from our practice. The hospital, on the Leeds and Bradford border, also provides a dedicated 24-hour emergency service. Because of this, you can be sure that your pet can receive the best treatment, at any time it is needed, from the vets that know them best. If you need to see our emergency vet, please ring ahead to ensure that we are fully prepared for your arrival.

Puppy Vaccination

Here at Yorkshire Vets, we believe that the first few weeks of puppy ownership are vital in providing your puppy with the tools it needs to live a happy and healthy life. This is why we offer a comprehensive puppy vaccination package. This great value package is ideal for ensuring early protection against preventable diseases, and to provide you with lots of information to help give your puppy everything he needs during his first year. We recommend starting puppy vaccinations from 8 weeks of age, though they can be started at any age.

This package is available at all Yorkshire Vets surgeries across Leeds and Bradford, and is priced at £47.

Our puppy vaccination package includes:

Full Veterinary Health Examination

Your vet will give your puppy a thorough health examination, in order to ensure that your puppy is fit and healthy for vaccinating. This examination will also include checks for problems such as undescended testicles, and umbilical hernias. This appointment is a perfect time for you to ask any questions you may have about your puppy’s health and well-being, such as diet recommendations, dental hygiene, and neutering options.

Diseases we vaccinate against

Puppy Vaccination 1

This first injection that your puppy will receive will begin to protect him against Leptospirosis, which is a potentially fatal disease. This vaccine requires two doses to become fully effective, which is why a second vaccination is required. It is not advisable to walk your dog in public areas until 10 days after your puppy has received his second vaccine.

Welcome Pack

Our comprehensive welcome pack provides you with lots of information about how to give your puppy the best start in life. This includes a recommended health care plan, preventative care advice, training and behavioural information, first aid information and a whole lot more!

Four Weeks Free Insurance

We recommend that all pets have some form of pet insurance. To get you started, we offer 4 weeks free insurance with Petplan* as part of our puppy vaccination pack. Because this is provided at the time of your puppy’s first health examination, the cover begins immediately, so you won’t be caught out by any delay in cover.

Puppy Party Invite

We currently offer monthly Puppy parties in Leeds (at our Shadwell surgery) and Bradford (at our Thornbury Hospital), and hope to bring these to more surgeries in the coming months. These parties are a perfect opportunity to socialise your puppy with other pups, and to learn more about how to help develop your puppy into the perfect adult dog. These parties are run by either a qualified vet, or a qualified veterinary nurse, so they will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about your puppy.

Puppy Vaccination 2

The second vaccination that your puppy will receive takes place 2 weeks after the first. This injection protects against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and is combined with your puppy’s second Leptospirosis vaccination. 10 days after this injection, your puppy will be protected and ready to get out and explore the world!

Full Veterinary Health Examination

Your vet will again give your puppy a full clinical exam at your second vaccination appointment. This allows us to check for any developments since the first vaccination. It is also a good time for you to have any questions answered that may have come to mind in the intervening weeks.

A note on Microchipping

As of 6th April 2016, it became a legal requirement for dogs in the UK to be microchipped from 8 weeks of age. Because of this, we have seen a large increase in puppies being microchipped with their breeder prior to moving to their new homes. As a consequence, we have removed the microchip from our puppy vaccination pack, and reduced it’s price. Microchipping will be available for your puppy should he not already have been chipped prior to your first visit. Microchipping is vital to protect the health and wellbeing of your dog, as it greatly increases the chances of reuniting him with you should he go missing. This is particularly important if he has become injured after getting lost. We register or microchips with PETtrac, the largest microchip database in the UK.

Kitten Vaccination

Here at Yorkshire Vets, we believe that the first few weeks of kitten ownership are vital in providing your kitten with the tools it needs to live a happy and healthy life. For this reason, we offer a comprehensive kitten vaccination package. This great value package is ideal for ensuring early protection against preventable diseases. It’s also a great chance for us to provide you with lots of information to help give your kitten everything he needs during his first year. We recommend starting kitten vaccinations at 9 weeks of age, though they can be started at any time from 9 weeks of age onwards.

This package is available at all Yorkshire Vets surgeries across Leeds and Bradford and is priced at £57.50.

Our kitten vaccination package includes:

Full Veterinary Health Examination

Your vet will give your kitten a thorough health examination. This ensures that your kitten is fit and healthy for vaccinating. This examination will also include checks for problems such as undescended testicles, and umbilical hernias. Additionally, this appointment is a perfect time for you to ask any questions you may have about your kitten’s health and well-being. Typical topics covered during a first vaccination are dietary recommendations, dental hygiene, and neutering options.

Kitten Vaccination 1

This first injection that your kitten will receive will begin to protect him against two types of cat flu (feline herpesvirus and feline calicivirus), feline infectious enteritis, and feline leukaemia virus. This vaccine requires two doses to become fully effective, which is why a second vaccination is required. It is not advisable to let your kitten leave the house until 10 days after he has received his second vaccine.

Microchip Implantation and Registration

We believe that Microchipping is vital to protect the health and well-being of your cat. Microchipping greatly increases the chances of reuniting you with your cat with you, should he go missing. Consequently, we include a microchip with all of our kitten vaccination packs. Microchipping is particularly important if your cat has become injured after getting lost. We register or microchips with PETtrac, the largest microchip database in the UK.

Welcome Pack

We understand there is lots of information to take in during your primary vaccination visits. As a result, our vaccine package includes a comprehensive welcome pack. This pack is a useful reminder of all of the topics covered during your vaccination appointments. It also provides you with lots of additional information about how to give your kitten the best start in life. This includes a recommended health care plan, preventative care advice, training and behavioural information, first aid information and plenty more!

Four Weeks Free Insurance

We recommend that all pets have some form of pet insurance. To get you started, we offer 4 weeks free insurance with Petplan* as part of our kitten vaccination pack. Because we provide this at the time of your kitten’s first health examination, the cover begins immediately. This means that you won’t be caught out by any delay in cover.

Kitten Vaccination 2

The second vaccination that your kitten will receive takes place 3 weeks after the first. This injection completes your kitten’s first year of protection against the illnesses named above. Protection will be effective 10 days after this injection. Following this 10 day period, your kitten will be ready to get out and explore the world!

Full Veterinary Health Examination

Your vet will again give your kitten a full clinical exam at your second vaccination appointment. This allows us to check for any developments since the first vaccination. It is also a good time for you to have any questions answered that may have come to mind in the intervening weeks.
