Tuition

At London Home Tutors we specialise in one to one tuition for London school children. We will arrange for a specialist teacher to visit your home once or twice a week to teach your child or arrange online lessons with one of our experts. By special arrangement your child can have their lessons at another venue, for example their school, a tutor’s home or at a local library. You may prefer this if your home is noisy due to younger siblings or your work arrangements do not allow you to be at home.

We will recommend you an experienced and well qualified tutor with whom we have an ongoing relationship. All out tutors are DBS checked. The minimum requirements for our tutors are a good, relevant degree, substantial teaching experience in their subject and excellent references.

How we arrange you a tutor

Once we have received your request for tuition and have considered your needs, we select a suitable tutor based on our knowledge and experience.

We aim to carefully match the tutor to the pupil, taking into consideration the unique interests, personality and needs of each student before selecting the best tutor.

We then contact the chosen tutor, explain your needs and ask them to telephone you and speak to you within 48 hours. At the same time we will email you a bio of the tutor so you know who will be calling and you are familiar with their credentials. We will not ask multiple tutors to call you, but if for any reason the tutor we select does not gel with you, please do give us feedback and we will move on to select you another tutor.

Once you have spoken with your tutor and you are happy to go ahead with them, please arrange a first lesson. First lessons are payable in full.

Fees

London Home Tutors charge new families a registration fee of £50. This is a one off payment for life membership and includes all siblings. You pay this when we introduce you to a tutor and lessons are arranged. Registered families pay nothing for further tutor introductions.

Our tutors keep most of their earnings, ensuring we recruit and keep the highest quality tutors. Registering gives you access to an extensive pool of first-rate mentors with experience across a multitude of subjects.

With many senior teachers, retired Heads of Department and Examiners on our roster, you are guaranteed a deeply experienced tutor who will deliver high-quality lessons.

Following requests from parents for very high level or specific tuition we have retained some Senior Tutors who charge more than our standard fees. These tutors have a particular qualification or experience that is reflected in their rate, for example they may have a demonstrable track record of examination success at a competitive London school. Online lessons are charged at the same rates as they reflect the same level of teaching experience and expertise.
