¡Hola!

I’m María. I consider myself an enthusiastic and motivated teacher, willing to help you to learn everything you want to know about Spanish language and culture. I think languages are alive and we shouldn’t learn them as dead theory, so I believe in a practice-based learning.

I have spent almost 9 years living in the UK, working as a teacher at state and independent schools and running adult-education courses. Now, I work full-time helping students like you, offering a more personalised education.

I am a qualified teacher with a language-teaching title issued by the International House World Organization and recognised by the University of Barcelona. I have also a Masters in teaching Art and Languages (the Spanish PGCE equivalent) and a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts.

How do I teach?

I believe that teaching Spanish is much more than teaching grammar rules: it’s teaching art, gastronomy, our understanding of life… in short, culture. I use a communicative approach to the language, so grammar is always in context and at the service of real communication skills.

I focus on the goals and interests of every student. In the first lesson you can start by telling me what grammar and cultural topics you are more interested in and how you prefer to learn them. You are the protagonist of your own education! 

I use a wide range of tools and activities specially prepared to fit your needs.
