Dispensing of FP10 prescriptions from our Alcura pharmacy in Northampton
Our Alcura pharmacy in Northampton, which is registered by the General Pharmaceutical Council, is currently unable to dispense NHS FP10 prescriptions.
This is due to an NHS Dispensing Contract not being granted for this site.
FP10 prescriptions are those written by your GP or nurse prescriber
We apologise to our customers for this disruption to our service. While we resolve these issues, we have put in place contingency plans to ensure you get your prescription filled without delay. Either:
- We can arrange to have your prescription sent to you by mail and then you can take or send it to any pharmacy, of your choice, to get it filled.
- Alternatively, we can organise with your written consent for your prescription to be dispensed by a Boots pharmacy (16 Fairground Way, Northampton, NN3 9HU Tel: 01604 414 753) near to the Alcura dispensary in Northampton, and then have it delivered to you as normal. In this case the Boots branch dispensing your prescription will be entirely responsible for the quality and safety of the prescribed items including providing any additional support or information you may require at the time of dispensing or afterwards. Alcura will act as the transport agent.
If you wish to use this service, please:
- Ask your GP or prescribing nurse to submit your prescription to Alcura in the normal way
- We will call you on receipt of the prescription to confirm that you consent to Boots in Northampton dispensing your medicine(s), we will also send you pre-filled form for your signature so that we can obtain your written consent for our files
- Boots will dispense, and then send your medications back to Alcura at Northampton, our team will liaise directly with you and organise delivery in the usual way
If you have any concerns or questions, please contact us on 0800 980 0686.
We will continue to provide regular updates on this page.

We can also arrange for your medicines to be ready and waiting for you to collect at participating Boots pharmacy stores* near your home or your workplace, if that is more convenient. Our patient support teams will contact you discreetly by phone before each delivery to arrange your individual medication delivery or collection times. Just let us know what you prefer, and we'll take care of it.
Complete treatment packs
If you have complex prescription needs, we can also supply and deliver complete treatment packs that contain the necessary medical equipment and clinical consumables you require. For example, these items may include medical devices, wipes, sharp bins, infusion pumps, pre-packed monitored dosage systems (MDS), and fridges for cold medication storage.
*Subject to stock availability, for collection during opening hours and for certain therapy areas only.
Home Administration of Drugs
Alcura can provide infusions and injections, if and as requested by your healthcare provider.
Infusions are normally given gradually through a blood vessel (intravenously). Injections are delivered in a single go as and when needed. The route of injection will depend on the nature of the product.
Infusion and injection therapies
All products are prepared to the specific instructions of the hospital specialists who are overseeing your care. We can provide a wide range of injectable products to treat patients of all ages across a broad spectrum of conditions. These medicines include antibiotic infusions, chemotherapy products, immunoglobulins and home nutrition support (parenteral nutrition).
High-quality clinical care
If requested by your healthcare provider, we can support you with trained nurses who will visit your home to carefully set up, monitor and administer your injections and infusions. This will be done with the same high levels of clinical care you would get at a hospital. Our main concerns are your safety, convenience and comfort.
One-to-one training
If you need to administer your own injections, then our trained nurses will give you one-to-one patient training. This involves teaching you how to self-inject through the use of safe, correct, clinical techniques.
High Technology Care
Our trained and experienced nurses can care for you in your home if you need high-technology care such as intravenous drug therapy, chemotherapy, or IV feeds. Our nurses work as a team with your healthcare provider to support you with the best care possible to keep you out of the hospital.
