Looking for short stay care?

Posted on Monday 28th January

Do you care for a loved one? Are you thinking of making changes to their care?

Caring for a loved one can be all-consuming and if you need to take some time away from your everyday caring role, respite care at a reputable care home is a reassuring option.

At Caring Homes our network of homes across the country offer day care, respite and short stays. Just come in and talk to our home manager to find out how we can help you and the person that you care for.

Julie Mason, Senior Operations Director said; “We understand how difficult it can be for families and carers to take a break so if you need time to focus on yourself or other family members, we can find a solution to help you.

“At all of our of homes we provide dignified and respectful care and make every effort to ensure the needs of all our residents are met. Short stays can be arranged for a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks and we can provide a bespoke service to match both residents’ lifestyle aspirations and healthcare needs.”

Respite care offers you the opportunity to spend some time away. Our care is given with warmth and respect, by professionals who take time to get to know residents and help them enjoy their stay with us as fully as they can. You’ll have peace of mind, knowing your elderly relative is in safe hands, with specialist care in beautiful surroundings.

Types of care

From dementia care and short stay respite breaks to registered nursing care and residential care, we offer many different types of support in our homes. We work closely with residents’ families to choose the appropriate levels of care for their loved one. Our experienced and dedicated care teams then spend time getting to know each individual so we can put together a care plan that is unique to their needs and requirements. Our aim is to deliver best quality care everywhere, every day, and tailored services chosen by residents and their families.

Dementia care

We provide specialist dementia care in most of our care homes. We understand the specific challenges faced by people living with dementia – our teams are able to provide professional and compassionate support for both our residents and their loved ones.

Residential care Our residential care homes provide a safe, warm and friendly environment with support for daily tasks such as washing, cleaning and laundry. In our homes we work to create a welcoming atmosphere in which residents enjoy activities, go on outings and make friends with other residents. We recognise that residents have very individual requirements, and our care homes provide a range of care services to help meet these needs.

Nursing care We provide nursing care for individuals with specialist requirements in many of our care homes. Our nursing care teams are fully qualified and have the specialist expertise required to care for residents’ varying medical needs and requirements. People who come to us may be living with conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis or Motor Neurone Disease; others may have suffered a brain injury as a result of an accident, or require ventilator care.

Day Care Day care offers a friendly and stimulating home-away-from-home, for people who are still living at home and may need some additional support during the day. Many of our homes provide care for people with dementia, physical frailty or simply those who want a more active social environment. Our day care gives people the opportunity to socialise with friends and engage in a range of activities, while their family carers have the confidence of knowing their loved ones are safe and cared for.

Respite and convalescent care We understand how difficult it can be for families or friends providing ongoing care. For this reason it’s important to occasionally find time for yourself. Our respite care services provide a crucial break for carers, either for a few hours with a visit to one of our day care sessions, or for overnight stays over a few days or weeks. Respite care offers family carers the chance to do daily chores, go on holiday or simply have some well-earned time off. We also provide convalescent care, to help people who need to recuperate after a hospital stay and to support them to be well enough to go back home.
