Botox® injections are a very effective treatment to reduce lines and wrinkles on the forehead, frown lines and face. They are our most popular treatment at Face Clinic London.

All our Botox® injections are given by fully qualified and experienced cosmetic doctors, who specialise in tailoring the strength your treatments to your individual needs. This means if wanted, you can retain some expression of the facial muscles, giving a more natural and subtle look with so called “Baby Botox® ”.

The treatment itself takes around 15 minutes to complete and after the treatment you can drive or head back to work immediately, no recovery period is needed.  It is an extremely safe procedure.

We offer a free follow up with a doctor two weeks after every Botox® treatment to ensure that the treatment meets your expectations, If necessary a free top up of Botox® can be given at this appointment.

The following are commonly treated areas with Botox® :

The chin (mentalis)

The chin can be treated to give a less bulky and dimpled appearance which tends to occur as we age.

Frown Lines

Frown lines can be seen as vertical lines in between the eyebrows and are common in people who frown a lot or have been overexposed to the sun. Small injections are licensed to treat these lines, in between and along the brow.

Forehead Wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles appear as horizontal lines on the forehead which are more prominent when you raise your eyebrows. To treat these, small injections are given on the forehead

Crow’s Feet

Crow’s feet are found in the outer corner of the eyes. They appear more prominent when smiling or laughing. They occur as the skin becomes less elastic with age, combined with excessive sun exposure. Small injections at either side of the eyes are licensed to treat crow’s feet wrinkles.

Smoker’s Lines

Smoker’s lines appear around the mouth above the top lip.  They can occur in non smokers, but can appear more prominent in smokers. Injections placed around above the top lip are all that is needed to reduce their appearance.

Marionette Lines

Botox® can be injected into the corners of the mouth alleviating the sad appearance that can occur with ageing.

Bunny Lines

Bunny lines are wrinkles at the top of the nose which can appear when squinting or frowning and can be successfully treated with Botox® injections.

Brow Lift with Botox®

Botox® can also be used to achieve an eyebrow raise or “Chemical Brow Lift”. Carefully placed injections around the brow can raise the eyebrows by about 3 millimeters. This can open up the eyes and in women give a more youthful appearance.

Advanced Botox®

Masseter (cheek) Botox®

Large cheek muscles can give rise to a square or bulky looking jaw. In some people, treating the masseter muscle with botox® will soften the jaw line. It can also be helpful for people who grind their teeth.

1 Area £230

2 Areas £300

3 Areas £350

8 Point Face Lift FAQ’s
What are Dermal Fillers?
The 8 Point Face Lift uses the latest in Dermal Filler technology, targeting key points of the face to create a lifting, plumping effect and more youthful natural look. Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected under the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour and create volume, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and can act as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin.

How do Dermal Fillers work?
By boosting the skin’s supply of Hyaluronic Acid, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. Dermal fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilized, non-animal Hyaluronic Acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the Hyaluronic Acid that exists naturally in the body. In the 8 Point Face Lift Dermal Filler is injected into key points of the face, plumping, redefining, and reshaping the mid and lower face creating a natural more youthful look. Dermal Fillers are long-lasting but not permanent

What are the benefits of The 8 Point Face Lift?
Because the 8 Point Face Lift is a non-surgical non invasive treatment there is next to no down time or pain, no scarring, and much less risk of infection when compared to a surgical face-lift. The 8 Point Face Lift is a long lasting, subtle way to give a more natural youthful appearance to your facial features. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for up to 18 months. Dermal filler injections used in the 8 Point Face Lift give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression.  As your face changes over time, dermal fillers allow you to control your looks subtly as you age.

What does the 8 Point-Face Lift involve?
Before
Prior to starting treatment you will have a consultation to gain appreciation of you concerns and expectations. At this point you will have the opportunity to ask questions, the Doctor will then objectively grade the upper, mid and lower face in terms of structure, proportion and symmetry to prescribe a facial treatment plan, specific to you, improving your face as whole.

During

First any make-up will be removed and the area cleaned with anti-septic. Then using a fine, sterile needle, your doctor will inject Juvederm filler into the key areas of the face that the 8 Point Face Lift targets. The entire process normally lasts around 45 mins.

After

The results of the 8 Point Face lift are visible immediately and most people feel confident enough to return to work straight away. There may be some mild swelling bruising or redness but such side effects are temporary and should resolve within a few days. Once the swelling has subsided the final results of the 8 point face lift will take effect over the following 2 weeks.

How long does The 8 Point Face Lift last?
As each person is different in both their facial structure and the rate that Hyaluronic Acid is broken down within the body, the duration of the results may vary. However results can be expected to last up to 18 months.

Can everybody have the 8 Point Face Lift?
Individuals who have a history of unacceptable scarring, active infection, known allergy to Hyaluronic Acid or Lidocaine or those who are  immuno-compromised are not suitable for this treatment.

Most people can benefit from the 8 Point Face Lift treatment. If you wish to:

- reduce lines and wrinkles

- define the contours of your face, such as chin or cheek,

Dermal fillers should not be used in or near areas where there is or has been skin disease, inflammation or skin related  problems. Dermal fillers have not been tested in pregnant or breast-feeding women. Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immuno-suppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure.

During your pre-treatment consultation, you should thoroughly discuss your medical history with the doctor at Face Clinic London.

Does the 8 Point Face Lift need pain relief?
A small amount of local anesthetic is contained within the syringe with the dermal filler to reduce discomfort and a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) numbing cream will also be applied prior to treatment.

Are there any risks with the 8 Point Face Lift?
Common side effects include bruising swelling and redness at the site of injection. Other side effects are rare.

HA Dermal Filler Patient Information

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in all skin and soft tissues throughout the body, identical across species.

Dermal fillers are manufactured, usually through fermentation and cross linking with proteins to produce a clear, sterile gel for injection into the skin.

In the UK, there are over 160 brands on the market due in some part to weak regulation. Not all hyaluronic acids are the same, each brand has a range of ‘tissue tailored’ products designed for specific results. One size does not fit all. At this clinic we use only tried and tested brands. If you have a particular brand you prefer, please discuss with us.

Leading and well established brands include Restylane, Juvederm and Teosyal.

How Does it Work?

Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers are a clear sterile gel in a syringe for injection into the skin providing instant correction. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds water in the skin, providing volume and hydration, but also ‘cushioning’ and supporting collagen and elastin fibres and providing a medium, or carrier, for chemical messages between the cells.

Used to Treat

- To correct or enhance facial contours; cheeks, temples, jawline, nose, chin.

- To define, correct or enhance lips

- To soften and correct facial wrinkles or folds

- To improve the tone, texture and hydration of the skin.

Is it Safe?

Dermal fillers are safe, but not risk free, the doctor will discuss all the risks and benefits with you at consultation and again prior to treatment.

Am I Suitable for Treatment?

The doctor will take a detailed medical history to ensure you have no conditions that might increase risk of unwanted side effects, consultation is also important to discuss your expectations and whether or not this treatment is able to meet them.

Does it Hurt?

Most leading brands also contain a local anaesthetic and we can apply topical anaesthetic cream, or ice, prior to treatment to numb the skin, if you prefer. Treatment need not be painful.

Before Treatment

All make up will need to be removed prior to treatment, so please come ‘fresh faced’ if possible. Alcohol, aspirin, Ibuprofen and a range of dietary supplements including; St. Johns Wort, fish oils,

Gingko Biloba, Vitamins C and E- may all contribute to bruising and are best avoided 24 hours before treatment. If you are taking aspiring for a medical condition, please check with your prescribing doctor that it is safe to stop, before doing so. Treatment cannot be administered if there is an active skin infection, including acne or cold sores or if you are unwell- including colds, coughs, sore throats etc. Do contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines prior to attending.

How Long will it Last?

Longevity does vary between products, and between individuals, but most will last between 6 months and 18 months. If you choose not to maintain the results with further treatment, your skin will return to its pre-treatment state over time.

Aftercare Advice

Most people are able to continue with normal activities with immediate improvement in their appearance. Some will have some redness, pin prick marks, possibly swelling- particularly in the lips. Possibly bruising. Any swelling and bruising may be more apparent the next day.

Make-up should not be worn for 12 hours

You are advised to avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, sun bathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong swelling.

Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours, and then should settle within the first few days. Cold packs can be helpful in reducing swelling. As a consequence of swelling, the product may feel harder or lumpy and you may notice some asymmetry. The final result may be judged at 2 weeks.

Bruising may take a few days to appear, arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising. It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment. Tenderness should settle as swelling goes down.

Athletes should be aware some ingredients in the product may show a positive in ‘anti-dope tests’

Please contact your doctor if redness, tenderness, itching or swelling worsens after 3 days, rather than settling.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns.

Botulinum Toxin Patient Information

What is Botulinum Toxin?

Botulinum toxin is a naturally occurring protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. In a purified form, as is the case with many drugs/medications such as Penicillin, Botulinum toxin is a very safe, effective treatment not only used in cosmetic clinics, but also for a number of medical conditions, including migraine and excessive sweating.

All botulinum toxins are prescription only medicines (POM) and can only be prescribed by doctors, dentists and nurses with the prescribing qualification, following a face to face assessment and consultation with the qualified prescriber.

Azzalure® is a licensed brand of Botulinum toxin A, and is the brand used at Face Clinic London. Other licensed brands include Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Bocouture® .

Botulinum toxins contain albumin, which comes from human blood. No cases of contamination of licensed botulinum toxin products with infectious diseases have been reported.

How does it Work?

The toxin blocks the transition of chemical messages from the nerve to the muscle so that the muscle stays in a resting state for a period of 8 to 12 weeks on average.

This may be only a partial reduction in movement allowing some remaining movement or a full block in which case there is very little remaining muscular movement in the area – this very much depends on the amount administered and location of product placement –treatment may be tailored to suit your individual requirements. Your expected treatment outcomes and whether they can be achieved will be discussed at the time of consultation.

Used to Treat

The aim of the licensed treatment is to significantly reduce the movement of the muscles causing expression lines (dynamic lines) specifically the frown and crow’s feet and worry lines on the brow may also be treated as an ‘off label indication. Successful treatment may not cause the expression lines themselves to disappear completely. It may not ‘completely freeze’ the expression, particularly if extreme effort is exerted to make an expression.

Advanced and off-label indications include; horizontal brow lines, lip lines, chin ‘poppling’, muscles on the lower face and neck, to lift the mouth corners, improve the jaw line and the appearance of the neck. The ‘chewing muscle’ may also be treated to soften a square jaw or to prevent teeth grinding or jaw clenching at night.

How Long will it Last?

Results tend to last 3-4 months. Movement will begin recovering from 8 weeks. Frequent treatment at intervals of less than 3 months is not recommended. Repeating treatment when movement recovers will deliver optimum results over time. Frequency of treatments may be reduced according to the quality of your skin and your response to treatment. Should you choose not to maintain the results and not have further treatment, your muscles and skin will return to their pre-treatment state.

Does it Hurt?

A very fine needle is used and generally this treatment is not described by most as painful and can be well tolerated with no anaesthetic. Please request an anaesthetic cream or ice, if you are nervous about needles.

Before Treatment

It is important you tell your practitioner about any medicines or dietary supplements you are taking, some medicines can adversely affect the way the toxin works or increase your risk of bruising.

If you are taking supplements such as Vitamin A, C or E, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, fish oils, St. Johns Wort or some pain killing medicines such as aspirin or ibuprofen, then these can increase your risk of bruising and it may be advisable to stop taking them a few days before your treatment. If you are taking aspirin for a medical condition, please check with your prescribing doctor that it is safe to stop it before doing so. It is also advisable that you do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment, for the same reason.

It is not advisable to have treatment if you are feeling at all unwell.

Make-up will need to be removed prior to the injections and you will be advised not to reapply it for 12 hours in order to reduce the risk of infection or irritation at the injection sites.

Be aware of the necessary after care advice and that your schedule allows for you to follow it.

After Treatment

You will be advised to keep the target muscles active for a few hours and to avoid extremes of heat or cold, vigorous exercise, lying down or leaning over for 4-6 hours.

After treatment it is expected that you will start to see an improvement within 2 or 3 days. For some people this takes longer. The full result may be judged at 2-3 weeks. You will be invited to attend a review appointment at 2-3 weeks where the success of the treatment may be assessed and adjustments to your personal treatment plan made, if necessary.

Should you experience any unexpected side effects or any that concern you, please contact the clinic.
