Our Values

When Pacific Care was founded in 1998 our key priority was to provide a level of care that we ourselves would want to receive and to create an environment where we would be happy to work.

These guiding principals are at the heart of everything we do.

Types of Care

Leaving your home for a care home environment is a daunting consideration for both you and your loved ones. It is important to take your time to find the home that best suits your needs and the type of care you require. Outlined below are the types of care provided across our nursing homes, to help you and your family decide what is right for you.

Nursing Care

Nursing care may be necessary for people who are rehabilitating after suffering a medical condition like a stroke, disability or from a long term condition that requires continued support.

24-hour Nursing Care

Pacific Care Nursing Homes provide qualified nurses in attendance 24-hours a day, offering specialist care in a supportive, secure environment for the frail elderly person and those with mild dementia. Our homes bring together residents in small social groups, reinforcing and maintaining daily living skills on a domestic scale, where bedrooms are grouped together in a homely manner around attractive lounge, dining and kitchen areas.

The team at Pacific Care have a genuine interest in the welfare of the frail, elderly person, and our philosophy of care centers on the promotion of residents’ individual lifestyles at all times - recognising all residents' personal circumstances and encouraging choice and participation in decisions that affect their daily lives and quality of care.

Personalised Care Plans

Our multidisciplinary team of highly qualified professionals supports our person-centered model of care, where each one of our residents is treated as an individual. We all have our own likes and dislikes, a family, a history and a story to tell. As such, we operate a named nurse system to provide individualised care. Residents are introduced to their named nurse on admission and are encouraged to participate in the planning of their own care to meet their desired goals.

Dementia Care Information

Coping with Dementia may be challenging for residents and their families, often carrying mixed emotions and concerns. Our service offers specialist care where trained staff recognise the difficulties and challenges of Dementia, helping residents and their families to manage the condition effectively.

24-Hr Specialist Dementia Care

With award recognition of our first class levels of Dementia Care, Pacific Care are at the forefront of Dementia care in Scotland. Working in partnership with respected Dementia bodies such as the Iris Murdoch Dementia Services Unit at Stirling University; we have implemented best practices to ensure our residents with dementia live as full a life as they possibly can. Alzheimer’s Scotland, who are delighted to have Forget Me Not volunteers work in a number of Pacific Care homes, offer support to residents living with dementia.

The frustrations and tensions linked to dementia are reduced through daily planned activities and social and mental stimulation and interaction; resulting in new friendships and relationships being formed. We have a comprehensive staff training plan that provides all our staff with an understanding of dementia and how to use this knowledge to best to care for the individual.

A high standard of nursing and personal care is provided by our team and each resident is allocated a key worker. A Personal Care Plan is developed with the full involvement of each resident and their family, which includes likes and dislikes in food, drinks, recreational activities and individual lifestyle choices. Personal preference is paramount and independence is encouraged to maintain dignity within a caring theraputic environment.

Specialist Design

All designs and finishes have been chosen to compensate for the cognitive impairments that the person with dementia may have. Our homes offer comfortable communal areas in addition to personal, private spaces filled with interesting objects when group living overwhelms. Increased lighting and way finding techniques are used throughout. Gardens are secure and accessible from the lounges and some bedrooms, offering a space to enjoy the elements, whatever the weather.

Residential Care

Residential Care is for frail older people who require increasing assistance with their daily living needs like bathing, dressing and perparing a meal.

Additional Care and Support

As we get older, it may become increasingly difficult to retain independence in all aspects of our lives. Getting out and about can prove difficult and sometimes loneliness can take hold. Often additional support in the home is necessary, however sometimes it is still not enough.

Residential care is the ideal solution for those who now require a greater level of care and support than their home care or family can provide. We offer a secure, safe and welcoming environment with specific care plans to meet their individual needs. In addition to this increased personal support, our residents love the company and activities they can enjoy on a daily basis, often learning new skills and renewing intrests in past hobbies.

Welcoming Home-from-Home

Suitable for those who are finding it difficult to cope at home without assistance, our residential care offers 24-hour support in a warm, calming and homely environment that enhances our residents' capabilities whilst supporting their declining abilities. We respect and promote our residents' individual lifestyles at all times, considering personal circumstances as well as offering choice and participation in decisions that affect daily living and future care.

Day Care

Day Care provides the older person with a friendly environment where socialising, entertainment and outings are part of every day life.

Day Care 7 days-a-week, 365 days-a-year

Looking after a loved one can be difficult for both the older person and their family, more so when they suffer from dementia or other disabilities. Our Day Care services provide a daily respite break in a homely, friendly environment for a range of care needs, from restricted mobility to mild/moderate dementia, delivered by trained staff with a genuine interest in the older person.

Offering a wide range of adapted facilities, activities, day trips and services including our in-house hair salon, computer room, accessible gardens and our well stocked craft room in our conservatory area, there is something for everyone.

Transport

To make life easier for both our clients and their carers, we provide an adapted mini bus and escort service to collect and return our clients to their homes. Our mini bus service provides transport covering the East Dunbartonshire area, including Bearsden and Milngavie.

Our experienced drivers are all trained in moving and handling clients with mobility problems and are always accompanied by an escort, who will meet clients at their door to ensure that their house is safe and secure before they leave. On return home, we ensure that the clients are safe and secure in their own home before we leave them.
