Live in Personal Assistant

- Live – in, 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off
The Role:
We are currently recruiting a Live In Personal Assistantto provide care to one of our client.
The client:
She has a C4 spinal injury. She lives alone and is fully verbally independent. At the present time she has three pressure ulcers which have left her bed ridden.
The client is friendly, organised and flexible. It is these attributes that she is looking for in a PA.
You will have full access to Wifi and a comfortable, clean bedroom. All amenities are close by in this affluent area of London.
About the job:
- Your will be working alongside district nurses who come in daily to dress the wounds or change the vac pump dressing
- Insure that the supply of dressings are up to date. Knowledge of wound dressing is preferable but not essential
- Assisting to book appointments and transport for hospital visits. A good working knowledge of using tablets, laptops and phones is required so that the electronic and paper calendar is kept up to date. As the client is on bed rest, all shopping is completed online. Hence the need to have some computer skills
- Good manual handling skills so that the turning schedule is endeared too
- Assisting the client with ordering medication, supplies and prescriptions from the doctor and pharmacy
- Assist the client with passive movements, splinting and FES
- Household chores need to be carried out on a daily basis
- All washing and ironing is to be completed by the PA or prior to the discussion with the client
Experience and attributes:
- Previous carer experience
- Experience with patient who has spinal injury would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening
- A caring, empathetic, and compassionate attitude
- A general initiative, common sense and confidence is a must
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn
