Private Tutoring Mathematics
I tutor mathematics and statistics courses at the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Fanshawe College, and high school level grades 9 to 12 in the city of London, ON.
I also tutor online math courses from other post-secondary institutions such as University of Windsor, Queen’s University. My mission is to provide you with high quality one on one math tutoring service to help you boost your grades, improve confidence, and hopefully learn some math along the way.
NEW:
I am able to offer online tutoring for students outside of London! If you live in Ontario outside of London and want a great tutor check my online tutoring page to see why you should consider online tutoring with me.
I have tutored many students one-on-one, with over 7,000 hours of tutoring experience. Math is my favourite subject and for more than half of my students math becomes their favourite subject too! I tutor students from various high schools, including Oakridge, Central, Saunders, Lucas, CCH, STA, and RMC.
Most students come to me for tutoring because they want higher marks in math. They are doing ok in most other subjects but they need to boost their math mark to enter into a university program they want. With my private tutoring lessons, nearly 100% of my students improvement 10-15%. Sometimes I get surprised as some students improve by as much as 20%. But an improvement of 10-15% is very easy to do when students follow my study tips, show up to all of their tutoring appointments, and participate in the sessions with a passion.
“My goal in tutoring is to make you feel smart!” -Mr.E.
As I always say, math doesn’t have to be hard. If you have tried other math tutors before and didn’t achieve success, you have come to the right place. Many of the students I tutor in London have had a tutor before and felt they didn’t benefit from tutoring. It all changes when I help them with math. They feel they are paying for a service that benefits them.
I spend a significant amount of time thinking about how my students would approach problems, and how I can approach them so that it makes sense to them. Very often as I teach a concept, I stop and ask the questions my students would ask before they get a chance. “You read my mind” they tell me. I smile and explain how I know what’s going on in their mind. I learn something new everyday as I reflect upon each session. This way I become a better math tutor today than I was yesterday. Tomorrow, I will be a better tutor than today. This is why I am all about quality math tutoring. You can get a university student to tutor you or your child, but the quality will be different.
Review Sessions for Midterms and Exams
I have been hired by Beat Your Course Inc. to conduct review sessions for Calc 1000, Calc 1301, Math 1228, AMATH 1201 and Stats 1024 for all midterms and final exams. Beat Your Course has helped thousands of students in various subjects including math, statistics, physics, chemistry, and biology across Canada. It’s been a privilege to be a part of their team, which consists of the best instructors for all subjects.
FACT #1:
All students I help that went to prep101’s review sessions and had disappointing marks improve their marks by double digits. In many instances I have seen students see an improvement of 20%+. For this reason alone, I think results attained from my lessons are not matched anywhere on campus.
This is especially true in math 1228, 1229, 1225, Stats 2035 and Psych 2810
Message to parents:
I can help your child learn the math in shorter periods of time with quality private lessons so that they are less stressed, have to study less on their own and get more time to study for other courses(!). With thousands of hours of one to one tutoring experience, you can be rest assured your child will be well taken care of :). Within a week or two of tutoring, most of my students refer a friend to me for math tutoring :). I genuinely care about all my students. Every parent I talk to tell me how happy their child is with all the help and encouragement I provide. It’s nothing like what they are used to from their prior tutors in high school.
FACT #2:
9/10 students refer me to a friend for tutoring after one tutoring session!
As a student, when you take 4 to 7 courses, it sometimes is difficult to keep up with everything and not fall behind. I offer what I consider to be the absolute best one to one tutoring service on campus to help you learn the concepts in less time so that you have to study less and get better marks. You will find that in one hour of tutoring, you will easily learn the content taught by your professor in 3 lectures. You will learn concepts really well! What makes me the best tutor at Western is very simple, I am a life long learner.
Every year I learn new teaching techniques, use new examples and contemplate on what I can do to make my students better understand math.
FACT #3:
Out of the last 400 students I have tutored, 399 have come back for more tutoring sessions.
I have study guides for math 1228 and 1229 that I created to help my students in preparation for tests and exams. Visit my study guides page for more information. For other courses, I don’t have a study guide but I have worksheets with great examples prepared to help my students understand the content as much as possible.
I teach mathematics the way it should be taught with fantastic examples and questions for each topic.
When a student comes to me I teach as if they have never seen each topic. I approach questions the way a student would think about them and move on at their pace. The explanations I provide are very clear and will make a lot more sense than hearing someone else teach it to an audience. When teaching in a lecture, the instructor doesn’t have to worry about how much you understand. I can tell you that usually the concepts are not complicated at all and all you need is someone to explain it the way a natural teacher would. This is why my students see a significant improvement in their grades and are less stressed.
Life is too short to stress about math.
Very often I have students who have not done well with other inexperienced tutors before. Remember just because someone is doing a master’s or Ph.D. in statistics it doesn’t mean they understand or can help you understand the content for math 1228 for instance. It’s important to learn math every week so you don’t fall behind. I hear all kinds of stories such as “my tutor only explained certain concepts, told me to learn the rest by reading the textbook” or “I felt bad so I just kept going to the same tutor”. You are paying for this service so if your tutor is not helpful, fire him! If I’m not helpful, get another tutor. I explain all topics you want to cover. At each tutoring session I start teaching you from the beginning of a unit until the end of it.
I also answer all questions you may have.
Currently I tutor the following courses at the University of Western Ontario (UWO):
I have tutored many other courses but for now I prefer to focus on the courses listed above.
