SENNIES are looking for a compassionate and loving Sennie to help support a family in
Hackney, caring for their 2 sweet boys aged 8 and 10. The parents are originally from
Denmark and the USA (where they are currently based), however, they have recently moved
back to London to continue treatment for B10 at the wonderful Great Ormond Street
Hospital. They lived in London previously and this is where the boys have mostly been
raised.

About B10:
B10 is a loving, funny and an outgoing little boy who loves swimming, music, dancing,
singing, transport and TV shows like Loves Ben and Holly, Little Princess and Fireman Sam.
Diagnosed with Batten, B10 is blind, with limited mobility (his mobility is currently similar to a
1 year olds) and struggles with his speech/communication (verbal ability similar to a typically
developing 2 year old).

He is extremely emotionally intelligent, replicating that of a teenager.
With that being said, none of B10’s Special Needs have ever stopped him having fun and
experiencing the world in his way. Batten is a rare and life-limiting disease, however, B10
has defied all odds and owing to some fantastic medical intervention, is thriving and his
condition improving.

He is a very loving, affectionate boy who is currently undergoing incredible treatment that will
help him to keep some of his mobility for longer. He is a unique and wonderful child who is a
pleasure to care for.

About B8:
B8 is a cheeky, sweet, funny and opinionated little boy. He loves brother very much and
often takes on the role of ‘big brother’- something he takes real pride and joy in doing. He is
very confident and is eager to return to the UK as, despite mums best efforts, he is adamant
that he is very much British!
He loves video games, top gear, reading and is particularly great at Maths!

About the role:
We'd love to find a Sennie who can match the outgoing, fun-loving and positive attitude of
the family and bring the same energy into their home. There is already a great structure and
routine in place for the boys and the selected Sennie should be able to get involved with
and continue this.

The Sennie’s role will include but is not limited to: full-time care until February 2021, after
school pick-ups, B10 personal care, preparing dinner, over-seeing dinner time and getting
the boys ready for bed. There would be one full day per week where the Sennie would
undertake some household PA duties to help support the family, this includes but is not
limited to: Staying on top of all school and health appointments, keeping the children's
bedrooms organised, prescription pick-ups and other duties as set out by the mother.

B10 also has bi-weekly infusions and the Sennie will accompany him to these appointments.
During school holidays, the Sennie will work full-time during the day providing care, planning
activities and ensuring the safety and happiness of the boys.

Due to his mobility issues, B10 is quite heavy, therefore it is important the Sennie selected is
physically capable/able in order to lift him and assist with his movement as much as
possible, to ensure he is able to stay mobile for longer.

It is important that the Sennie(s) can build a strong and genuine bond with both boys whilst
setting and following through with clear boundaries, as the boys are very switched on and
know how to get what they want. This role requires a flexible, warm approach.

The Sennie selected will be able to follow and support therapies and interventions
determined by the family and professionals. A genuine interest in working with SEN children
is a must.

If you meet the above criteria and are looking to find a new wonderful and rewarding position
- please fill out our online application form and quote REF 0050

Due to the volume of applicants, we will only be in touch with successful candidates.
